Cristiano Ronaldo scammed €250k by Travel agent
Portuguese super-star, Cristiano Ronaldo was scammed €250,000 naira equivalent of about N140 million.
The travel agent named Maria Silva scammed Manchester United striker, Cristiano Ronaldo the sum of €250,000 for a travel he didn’t make. The superstar had entrusted his virtual credit card to the travel agency, Geostar.
The 53year old travel agent was getting the companies clients to pay their travel fees in her private account, however, after receiving all the payment in her private account she therefore began to bill those trips to Cristiano Ronaldo, who had an account at Geostar and for practical reasons, handed the agent a virtual credit card and pin.
She billed Cristiano Ronaldo for 200trips which he never made just because he had entrusted his virtual credit card to the travel firm.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be joined by his lawyer, Carlos Osorio de Castro in his return to his country of birth.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes was scammed €14,000 and former United teammate Nani was also scammed €1,500. They were among the clients that paid directly to Maria Silva’s account.
She has agreed to repay all the money she defrauds as part of the court deal, she struck sparing her prison sentence.
Maria Silva is currently working as a cleaner and still paying the compensations to her old employers.
Ronaldo took a pay cut in order to make his return to Manchester United from Juventus, but is on a staggering £385,000 a week at Old Trafford which makes him the highest-paid player at the club ahead of goalkeeper David De Gea.
There was no official comment from Cristiano Ronaldo, his agent Jorge Mendes and Nani.
